TASOK Board of Directors 2021 – 2022

The American School of Kinshasa is organized under the TASOK Association Constitution which was last amended in December 2020. TASOK is governed by 7 elected members, the Director, and the U.S. Ambassador or their representative. All TASOK parents and all full-time faculty are members of The American School of Kinshasa Association and are eligible to vote. Elected School Board members serve two-year terms. Each Board member is elected to a specific position on the Board. Candidates must choose and run for one specific position: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, US Government Representative, Missionary Representative, or Member at Large. In addition the Board includes two ex-officio, non-voting members: the US Ambassador’s Representative, and the TASOK Director.

What does the Board Do?

The primary purpose of the School Board is to govern the school by setting, monitoring and funding strategic goals to ensure continuous development of the school in line with its Mission and Beliefs.

The School Board should be aware, to the fullest extent possible, of all matters that pertain to the philosophy, strategic management plan, Mission and Beliefs of the School and to assure that decisions of the School Board conform to TASOK’s stated objectives. The Board does not involve itself in the actual operation of the school, which is the purview of the Director.
